Ok: 1 (pics pls :P), 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 20, 23, 24, 25, 28, 37, 41, 47 xxx
1: What are you wearing?
Blue jeans, a yellow tshirt that proclaims I’m from Malaysia (I’m not), and my red Canada hoodie (I am). (And use your imagination :P)
Argh. I hate these questions. Most of the time it’s hard for me to see any romance in a show. I watch for the plot! :) Bering and Wells (Warehouse 13), I guess. My ships usually don’t end well.
9: Favo(u)rite Show?
Babylon 5. Hands down. Tight storytelling that continued in arcs that sometimes lasted multiple seasons. Characters that had definitely grown from the first time they appeared on screen until their last scene. Layered scenes with Easter Eggs that you can find on multiple viewings (we actually *see* a Ranger before we know what those are!). Oh, and the first canonically bisexual woman in sci-fi.
10: Favo(u)rite bands?
Metric, Radiohead, Dragonette, Garbage, Stars, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. To name a few.
11: Something you miss?
12: Favo(u)rite song?
ARGH! My mind just blanked.
Right now, it’s Side A of my mixtape. That’s a song, right? It’s a continuous piece of music :P
16: Favo(u)rite Quote?
"Never surrender dreams" J. Michael Straczynski. I had that engraved on my first iPod. It’s nice, succinct, and a good reminder that you don’t have to let go of your passions.
17: Favo(u)rite singer?
It’s a toss up between two, I suppose. Shirley Manson - that woman *owns* the stage. Bruce Springsteen as well. I like songs that tell stories, and that’s what he does best.
18: Favo(u)rite colo(u)r?
20: Where do you go when you’re sad?
Inside my head. Very, very deep inside my head. I’m awful.
23: Ever been in a physical fight?
Yup. Tussled with the brother once or twice. Or a dozen times. Otherwise, there was the almost fight at the Senators-Leafs game once. I was ready to hold my mother back, in case it escalated. Damn drunk Sens fans. Guys ended up nearly taking a header down the seats in front of them. Pretty sure they got ejected.
24: Turn on?
An all-around intelligence.
25: Turn off?
Someone who doesn’t hear me when I’m talking.
28: Last thing that made you cry?
Someone linked me to Ken Liu’s short story “Paper Menagerie”. I didn’t think that I would be that affected, but I literally had tears rolling down my cheeks.
37: Place you want to visit?
Just one? The first thing that springs to mind is Bletchley Park. And probably Alan Turing’s statue in Manchester. I wish I could pay my respects to that man.
41: Last time you were insulted and what was it?
Heh. And I quote from a Facebook post from a few months ago:
"Sometimes, being a female on a team that’s 90% cis-male really sucks. Context: a few days ago I raised an objection at a team meeting when the image for "Level 0" in our "gamified" stats (thought up because some slackers aren’t doing their damn jobs) was shown to be former Aussie PM Julia Gillard, while other levels were different version of the Hulk. I said that perhaps the two women on the team wouldn’t appreciate what that represented. Today, I had to explain to the idiot team lead in Sydney that it wasn’t the fact that there weren’t other female superheroes represented (though yes, that’s another issue that should be addressed). It’s the fact that you used a strong female leader as the absolute baseline of your pet project and then proceeded to exclaim how terrible it was to be at Level 0, AKA "a Julia"."
47: Last song you sang?
Thunder Road, along with thousands of other people at the Bruce Springsteen concert. Of course, there were other songs later on that night, but Thunder Road was and always is, special.
